Tug-of-War at Stoke
5 Jun 1999
The traditional tug-of-war between Stoke and St Mary Bourne took place at Stoke Village Fete on June 5th. The teams start on either side of the Bourne, with the loser getting wet. Stoke won the contest after a 1-1 start, and a break in the beer tent.
Visitors to the fete included George and Aurelia Young, their daughter Sophia and her two sons. “We wrongly guessed the weight of the pig, but had a great time at this very traditional English country fete.”
