Sir George visited the Andover Birth Centre on its Open Day, and was shown round Cindy Shawley, the Andover Birth Centre Manager and Louise Halfpenny, the Communications Manager for the Winchester & Eastleigh NHS Trust.

"This is a fantastic resource to have in Andover, covering the whole area from Salisbury to Basingstoke, and as far south as Winchester & Romsey. This was their first ever Open Day, and they did a fantastic job in raising awareness of the centre and it was good to see a large number of expectant mums at the event".

Also at the event were Britax, who were carrying out their car seat safety checks and manning a stand featuring their products. Asda also supported the event, along with 'So Baby' a new baby focus retail outlet which has just opened in the Weyhill Road.

"I enjoyed meeting some mothers with their newborn children, and looking at the recently installed birthing pool. It is a very relaxing environment in which to give birth, with some really professinal support available from the team on duty. A number of therapies are available, and funds were being raised by a raffle and sale of cakes for additional resources for the centre".
