Six months after opening 'Wall to Wall' Steve Marshall's new carpet centre at the Broadway in Andover, Sir George was asked back to open a curtain and fabric centre next door.

"When I met Steve a few months ago, I admired his courage in opening a new retail outlet in Andover in the depths of the recession. I was delighted to hear from Steve that he was doing very well, and was ahead of his business plan. So confident is he of the prospects that he has opened a new shop selling curtains and fabrics, which complements the carpet shop next door".

Sir George met Steve's wife Mandy, who was helping out at the opening, and he was encouraged to hear from Steve's contact with other independent retailers that there were signs of trade beginning to pick up.

"Steve told me that many people in Andover prefer to deal with independent local retailers, rather than with some of the multiples. They want to do their best to help local trade".
