Pupils from Harrow Way Community School welcomed guests to a private viewing of the St Mary's Project at St Mary's Church in Andover. The exhibition included ceramics, painting and sound and vision work from students from Harrow Way, John Hanson, Knight's Enham Infants and Junior, Portway Junior, Vigo Infants and Harrow Way Pre School. Sir George met Irene Timms and Linda Bristow who worked with the pupils and helped them with the ceramics and the paintings. "The Church had six round paintings on hardboard which were hanging from the pillars, which the pupils had designed, based on their perception of the Church. They had felt the stone, and looked at the colours, and then reproduced their visual picture of the architecture. Harrow Way pupils had worked out that, in all the crevices of the church, there were likely to be a number of insects and this was the theme of their contribution. Talking to Linda and Irene, it was clear that the children enormously enjoyed their work, and it was a high quality exhibition which I hope many people will enjoy."
Also at the exhibition were the Mayor and Mayoress of Test Valley, Cllr and Mrs Ian Hibberd, and the Deputy Mayor and his wife, Cllr and Mrs Chris Lynn. After the viewing on Friday, there was a musical service.
