Aurelia Young gave a talk about her father, the sculptor Oscar Nemon, to help raise funds for the Dummer Church Bell Restoration Fund.
The event was organised by Jeffrey Northam, and ninety people came to the Village Hall for the talk, and for a glass of wine and canapes.
Stafford Napier presented the prize from the raffle - a small bust of Nemon's Churchill - to Richard Tanner. Over £1000was raised from the event.
Church bells have been rung in Dummer for over 400 years. To cintinue this tradition, extensive repairs are need to the bells and to the belfry. This will cost over £33,000 - most of which will have to be raised voluntarily. The work is planned for 2011 - exactly 100 years after the last overhaul.
