Sir George talks to Julia Cobb, Day Centre Manager, at the Kingfishers new premises.

The Kingfisber Trust serves the area of Overton, St. Mary Bourne and Whitcburch and its new Day Centre is open for Business.
The new centre, with much better facilities including a larger day room with
panoramic views, its own dining room, rest room. and new kitchen equipped to
cater for up to 40 diners, is in the grounds of Testbourne Community School.
At present clients from Overton. Whitchurch and St Mary Bourne areas will
continue to attend and the extra accommodation and dedicated premises will allow for an increase in numbers, making life easier and happier for many frail elderly residents and their carers.

“I visited the Kingfisher Trust when it was based in the community centre in Overton. It was very popular, with wonderful full-time staff and volunteers providing a high quality service. But the building was not suitable, and was too small to meet demand. The new premises at Testbourne are light and cheerful, and hav e all the modern facilities a Day Centre needs. But crucially, the friendly atmosphere has successfully transferred from Overton to Whitchurch.”

Funds for the move and improvement came from Health and Social Services, together with a contribution from Kingfisher’s own funds.
