The traditional switching on of the Christmas tree lights took place in Tadley, preceded by carol singing by the Hurst Choir, accompanied by the Tadley Band. A snow machine was in operation, and there was a Christmas market in the Ambrose Allen Centre.

The lights were switched on by Jamie Rickers, starring as Buttons in the pantomime at the Anvil in Basingstoke. To help him were Jo Slimin, chairman of Tadley Town Council, Cllr David Leeks who was Master of Ceremonies and Sir George who took the opportunity to wish everybody a happy Christmas.

“This year we were spared the rain, and there was a marvellous turn out and a great atmosphere. This is the tenth year that Tadley have organised this event and it grows in popularity each time.

Jamie Rickers took the opportunity to publicise Cinderella at the Anvil, before pushing the button to illuminate the Christmas tree.
