John Izett, Chairman of Highclere and East Woodhay Conservatives, gives Aurelia Young a bouquet of flowers at the end of the Branch Barbecue held at his home in Penwood. Otto, the black labrador, looks on.
Also present at the barbecue was Sir George’s predecessor as the local MP, Sir David Mitchell; local councillors Mike Ross, John Clegg and Patrick Hedgeland; and Association Chairman Christopher van der Noot.
Sir George said that the mood in the House had changed over the last two months, with journalists now talking about a possible Hague administration after the next election – something they had not done a year ago.
