Sir George visited Stannah Lifts at the invitation of Patrick Stannah, to see how they were coping in challenging economic times.

“Stannah’s stair lifts are a product which is increasingly in demand, as people get older and want to continue to live in their own homes. I am convinced that stair lifts and other adaptations have a crucial role to play in the future by reducing the cost of expensive residential care, and enabling people to continue to live in the home where they feel most comfortable.”

Sir George looked at a new production line which was being installed, and was told about the export markets that Stannah have developed. He complimented Stannah on the work which they did in Andover by supporting worthwhile causes, and looked at the equipment designed to ensure that every product is of the highest quality.

“Stannah are good employers, and show that there is still a role for family businesses in today’s economy. I want to do all I can to help them increase their share of this important market.”
