Andover Churches Together put on the third 'Free Fun Day' in Vigo Road on Saturday. It was opened by the Mayor of Test Valley, Cllr Chris Lynn, who was introduced by the Chairman of Andover Churches Together, Lynda Barber from the Salvation Army.
"This was a great event bringing together families in and around Andover for a free day of fun. It is generous of the churches to put on this event, and it shows that the churches in the town are very much part of the community and play an active part in promoting community cohesion".
Hundreds of families enjoyed a splendid day out with free food and soft drinks, a climbing wall, and a background of music from groups such as Psalm Drummers and other live bands from the town.
"It was good to catch up with the news from the Andover Food Bank. Last year they helped some 2,600 people, and this year they plan to help over 3,000. In addition to food, they provide toiletries and other essentials to families, with a particular focus on those who are homeless".
Sir George had a game of four by four at the 1st Andover Girls Brigade Company stall, and was saved from defeat at the hands of Nicky by the counters falling out at the bottom of the frame.
