A group of three singers helped raise funds for St Mary's Church in Monxton by putting on a one hour's concert. The Beata vocal trio gave their maiden performance in the church, and it was composed of three ladies who have sung together since they were at school.

Lizzie Smith, daughter of Rhonda Smith who lives in Monxton, and her two friends sang seventeen songs, ranging from old church music to Gershwin.

"They are three very gifted young ladies who will, I am sure, go from strength to strength. It was generous of them to give up one of their evenings to raise funds for the church, and everyone who heard them will remember the evening".
