For the first time for many years, the joint Ashford Hill and Headley village fete was held in the grounds of the Church, for which the funds were raised during the afternoon.
Cllr Ken Rhatigan acted as Master of Ceremonies, welcoming George and Aurelia Young to the fete. There were the usual attractions, including a dog show and a steel band. "I caught up with the news about the village shopt in Headley, and hope that they will be able to raise the £50,000 needed to move from the current location to the disused chapel."
Aurelia Young stocked up with plants and strawberries supplied by Lady Sainsbury, who lives nearby.
