The Fyfield Church Fete was held in the grounds of Sir Michael Vernon's land in Fyfield, and the event was held to raise funds for the church's target, which was set out on a noticeboard.

"The Wyvern Barn Dance Band played during the fete to give it some atmosphere, and there was a fascinating display of historic registers in the church, going back several hundred years. There was the duck race on the Pill Hill Brook, and the new disabled WC was formally opened, making it possible for a wider range of events to be held in the church".
