Richard Smith, the Managing Director of Verdo Renewables Ltd, showed Sir George round the brand new plant being constructed at the West Portway Industrial Estate in Andover.

"This is an investment by Verdo of more than £10 million, and the plant will manufacture wood briquettes for use in open fires in multi-fuel stoves, as well as wood pellets for use in bio-mass heating systems such as wood pellet boilers or pellet stoves".

Sir George was told about 18 people worked at the plant which is in the process of being completed.

Sir George discussed with Richard Smith the future of the Renewable Heat Incentive, which is necessary if the UK is to meet its renewable energy targets.

"I am obviously delighted that Verdo are investing in Andover, and making an important contribution to hitting our environmental targets".
