Supported by her husband Mark, Fiona Bennett has launched a yarn shop at the Commercial Centre in Picket Piece.

"Fiona stocks the best of British yarns, together with organic yarns and Fair Trade buttons. She is also planning to have 'knit, knit and natter' classes in her shop and I wish her the very best of luck".

Formally cutting the ribbon, Sir George said that there was a shortage of places to buy good quality wool in the area, with people have to travel far afield.

"I welcome this opportunity to get good quality wool locally, and I am sure Fiona will make a success of this".

Before opening the shop, Fiona worked with her husband Mark at Britax.

After opening the shop, Sir George was presented with a pair of socks knitted by Fiona. "These are of the highest quality, knitted from Bluefaced Leicester wool and then hand dyed. The colour yellow symbolises the partnership between my party and the Liberal Democrats!"
