Bruce Parker, to the left of Sir George in the picture, joined the local MP and George King (second on the right, seated), in explaining to Kimpton children what life had been like in the 1930s.

"Not all of us were around in the 1930s, but I brought along my autograph book which had the signature of Edward VIII in it and his wife Wallis Simpson. I was able to explain a little bit about the monarchy in the 1930s, and explain how life has changed in the past 70 years . Other guests showed how, for example, transport had changed and broadcasting".

This event was one of a series run by Kimpton school to recapture the past. Earlier ocassions have focussed on Remembrance Day, with survivors from the Second World War sharing their experiences with the children.
