Sir George welcomes discussions on future of Andover War Memorial Hospital
7 Dec 2010
"The Winchester & Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs Andover Hospital, is intending to merge with Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation. Basingstoke Hospital was, until recently, in my North West Hants constituency, and I know it and those who work there well. I have a high regard for their management capability, which is one of the reasons why the Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Trust was one of the first to become a Foundation. If the merger goes ahead, I will be fighting hard for further investment in Andover Hospital. The newly refurbished outpatients department is a great facility, and I want to see yet more services provided in Andover to reduce the need to travel to Winchester".

Sir George has been told that no major changes are planned at the present, while discussions on the merger move forward.
