Sir George welcomes Andover Railway Station Enhancement
9 Feb 2011
Sir George has been campaigning for some time for investment in Andover Station, as it copes with increased traffic.

“Regular users will welcome this; as will visitors, for whom this is their first impression of the town.”

"It had a facelift in the 1990s, but frankly the station looks a little tired at the moment. There are some deeply committed staff who work tirelessly to provide a good quality service, and I know they as well as the travellers will welcome the half a million pounds national station improvement programme to refurbish and enlarge the main ticket office, and to enhance the main station forecourt. As someone who occasionally cycles to the train, I also welcome the new secure cycle parking compound and I was pleased to hear that negotiations continue with regard to longer term plans for a new car park and improvements to the passenger waiting facilities on the north platform".
