HRH the Prince of Wales came to Andover to celebrate the construction of the 500,000th stairlift by family firm Stannah Lifts.
Run by the fifth generation of the family, Stannah now employs 1700 people world wide, and is synonymous with stairlifts - although the company originally made conventional lifts.
Prince Charles presents the Almshouse Association and Abbeyfield with complimentary lifts from the company and unveiled a plaque.
He met apprentices, and long-serving employees of the company.

Sir George said that Stannah was a model example of a well-run family business. "They are good employers, with a strong commitment to Andover where they have been based for over 30 years. They invest in research to stay ahead of the competition, and support a wide range of local charities. I am delighted that they are planning to expand and relocate by moving to the airfield site in Andover."
