Sir George opened the 6th Oyster Festival at the Fox in North Waltham. The Hampshire Caledonian Pipe Band marched from the church to The Fox, and Sir George then welcomed everybody to the event.

"The proceeds from this festival will go towards the Royal British Legion, and there were many stalls in the grounds of the pub raising funds for local causes such as the school, the local church and the Children's Hospice".

Sir George congratulated Sue Lucas of Passionate about Fish for masterminding the event, and turning it into a major attraction in the county each year.

Also available at the festival was a test electric bike, provided by Freego Electric Bikes of Southampton. A range of special brews were available in the beer tent, and, later on in the afternoon, the Basingstoke Youth Orchestra played in the marquee.
