Sir George opened a four week exhibition of quilts at Andover Museum, organised by members of the Spratt and Winkle quilters group. The Group is based in Goodworth Clatford, through which the Spratt and Winkle railing line used to run.

Sir George was welcomed at the museum by Gail Rist, co chairman of the group, and cut a ribbon to open the display "There is a magnificent display of skill on show, and I hope people in and around Andover will take the opportunity to come to the Iron Age Museum and look at this display. There are some magnificent colours, great designs and some really skillful needlework that has gone into the exhibits."

Sir George was shown round by Ann Ohlenschlager, one of the long standing members of the group. The event was organised by a small team of Spratt and Winkle quilters, assisted by Virginia
Cox.
