The Chairman of the Trustees of Kingsclere Village Club, Peter Woodman, introduced Sir George, who cut the ribbon to celebrate the completion of the refurbishment of the hall. The building work was carried out by local contractor Brian Jackman, and those present included the Trustees and representatives from the organisations who use the club.

"The new hall is an enormous improvement on the old hall - it is warmer and lighter, and there is more space as the hall has been lengthened. An extension has also been built at the back of the hall to provide new WCs, and there is a new patio for outdoor events." Funding for the project came from the Greenham Common Trust, Action for Communities in Rural England, the Garfield Weston Foundation and other donors. The hall provides accommodation for the Embroidery Group, Dog Training, the Indoor Market, and a number of Kingsclere based clubs. the building is also regularly hired out for private use, particularly for children's parties. "This building is an important part of the village, as it also provides a home to a number of public bodies such as the Hampshire Police Beat Office, the Parish Council and Hampshire County Council Branch Library."
