The Princess Royal Trust celebrated Carer's Week with an event at the Masonic Hall in Andover, where carers could be pampered and try out new therapies. "Last week I was asked in the House of Commons about Carer's Week, and I said that I would be looking in at the local branch to pay tribute to the work that carers do, including the quality of life of those they care for and also saving the tax payer billions of pounds.

While extra funds have been provided for carers, Sir George heard from those at the Carer's Day event of the problems that confront them and how they hoped that statutory agencies and Government might do more to make their life as a carer easier."
