St Mary Bourne holds tennis tournament
6 Jun 1999
The tennis tournament at St Mary Bourne was held on Sunday June 6th, with Sir George giving prizes to the winners. Over a hundred entrants played on twelve local courts, with the finals being held at Medhurst, home of organiser Philip Winchcombe.
The tournament was sponsored by Windmill Hill Place Tennis and Golf Academy, and money was raised for the local parishes. Afterwards, there was a barbecue at Medhurst.
Winning finalists, on the right, were Kate Thornton and David Mitchell. Kate lives in Egbury, and David is the nephew of Arthur Thacker, the former Basingstoke Councillor who lives in St Mary Bourne.
