After opening the Appleshaw Fete and Flower Show, Sir George listens to the playing of Winchester City Brass.
“Money from the Fete goes to worthwhile local causes – the Church, the WI, the school, the cricket and football teams. I am sure they will raise the usual £2000 from to-day’s event; it is good to see traditional sports such as the three-legged race, the sack race and the egg and spoon race alive and well.”
