On July 30 and July 31 Jody and Clare Scheckter held a Field to Fork Festival at Laverstoke Park Farm in association with Sainsburys. The event featured the British Barbecue Championships, in partnership with Weber, manufacturers of barbecues.
"This was a great event, providing a wide range of attractions for the family. There was a tractor\trailer tour, an opportunity to meet some of the animals on the farm, to watch the buffalos being milked and some hands on workshops. We watched the breadmaking class, and enjoyed Jody's buffalo beefburgers and buffalo milk ice cream." Families could purchase their own meat and then grill it on barbecues provided by Webers in the barbecue field. Next door was the bar, selling Laverstoke's organic ale and lager available on draft and in bottles.
The day we were there featured the Barbecue Amateur Championships, judged by James Martin, presenter of BBC1's Saturday Kitchen.
There were also sheep dog demonstrations and live bands in the picnic field.
