The Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Cllr David Leeks and Sir George met up at the Oakley Village Flower Show and Fete.

After going round the stalls, they enjoyed a cup of tea, and caught up with the local news "This village fete is primarily held to bring the village together, rather than to raise a huge sum of money. There were the usual range of attractions, including a facility to have ones blood pressure taken, to which Aurelia and I submitted ourselves".

It was good to see Naomi House raising funds at the fete, which provided a shop window for many other local charities and voluntary organisations. It was a pleasure to listen to some high quality music from Graham Hewitt's Big Society Jazz Band.
