The George Inn at Vernham Dean hosted an Auction to raise funds for Naomi House Children's Hospice. "It was generous of James and Nicky Haigh, who run the pub, to host this event, which raised £450 for Naomi House." The two auctioneers who were the Rev David Keighley, the local vicar and Alan Butterworth. They auctioned items donated by residents of the village - fruit, vegetables, flowers, eggs, cakes and bottles. before the auction, harves hymns were sung, and prayers were said by David Keighley.

"This was a splendid combination of pub and church to raise funds for a local charity, and I was pleased to see that it was well supported by the village."
