Officially called the "Octoberfest", there was a beer, cider and market festival for the community in Kingsclere. This was held at the Fieldgate Centre, with many stallholders displaying local crafts and selling produce. There was a wide range of beer and cider's available, including some local ales. The proceeds raised went to "Help for Heroes" and also to the Fieldgate Centre to raise funds for future activities.
Opening the festival, Sir George complimented Mike Harnetty and Alan Hambidge, and the committee for putting the Fieldgate Centre onto a viable footing, and for organising a wide range of events. "The Fieldgate Centre is a valuable community asset, and it was marvellous to see it hosting this event." Sir George stocked up with eggs and onions, and enjoyed half a pint of cider.
Also present were District Councillors Cathy Ossleton and Donald Sherlock, and Sir Geroge paid tribute to Sharon Morris, for her work in putting the festival together.
