Sir George with, from the left, Andy Hooper, (President) Brian Funnell (Chairman) and Tim Keighley (Captain) of Andover Cricket Club. They are looking at plans for the new pavilion.
“This is an ambitious plan to make Andover the premier cricket club in Hampshire, and it has my full support” The building will cost £600,000 to build and there is an offer from Test Valley Borough Council for over £200,000 with another £5,000 from Hampshire County Council. A bid to Sport England for up to £300,000 of lottery money is in the pipeline, which Sir George is writing in to support.
The running costs of the Club will be about £60,000, but the Club is confident it will cover with this increased income from the building.
