The Archdeacon of Winchester, the Rev Michael Harley, took the 11 o’clock service at St Marys Church Amport, at the end of which he blessed the new extension.
“Over the past 10 years, the church has raised roughly £100,000 in order to provide a kitchen area and a WC. Much of the fundraising was led by David Mallam, and both the vicar, Chris Pettet and the Archdeacon complimented him on his work. Churches like St Marys need to modernise their facilities if they are to remain attractive venues for services and other events, and these new facilities bring the church in to the 21st Century.”
