The Chairman of the newly formed East Woodhay Society convened the inaugural meeting at Woolton Hill Church Hall. About 100 members came along to listen to the local MP, Sir George Young, speak about his experiences as Leaader of the House. "It was a great pleasure to address the inaugural meeting of the Society, which grew out of the team that put together the Local Plan. We had a useful exchange of views about politics, and I hope the Society has got off to a good start." The Chairman of the Society, John Angle introduced Sir George, who was thanked at the end of the meeting by the Leader of Basingstoke and Dean Council, Clive Sanders. Clive Sanders is the Councillor for Woolton Hill.
