The rebuilding of Thruxton War Memorial Hall drew a step closer after an evening attended by the Mayor of Test Valley, Cllr Tony Hope and his wife, Janet (right of picture). Thruxton Village Association displayed four schemes for rebuilding the hall, to find out which was the preferred option. That scheme will be worked up and a formal application made to the Lottery. All four schemes had been discussed with the local planning authority. Villagers attended the event and filled in comment forms.
At the same time, winners of a Grand Draw were announced by the Mayor, Sir George, Annie Bailey – one of the oldest residents – and Henry Pelham, owner of Thruxton Racing Circuit. The winners will drive Formula Racing Cars round the circuit, after being taken round in a Maserati.
In charge during the evening was Mrs Constance Moss, next to Sir George.
