Sir George planted an Oak tree on the Bulbery Sports Field in Abbotts Ann, as part of the village's celebrations of the Diamond Jubilee. The tree is in line with other trees, planted to commemorate other events such as the Golden Jubilee.

"I am grateful to Stan Oram and the Jubilee Committee for putting this event on, which everyone in the village will remember. It was kind of them to arrange for every child in the village to have a Jubilee mug, with the crowns on it replicating the ones found in the village church".

Atmosphere was provided by the Golden Eagles Band, and two of the children dressed up as a Prince and Princess, and there were a number of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip lookalikes at the event.
