At 12.15pm, Lt Col Charles Milner-Williams raised a Union Flag at the Green in Thruxton, after which the Wyvern Dance Band played the National Anthem. Sir George then formally opened the fete, which was followed by a village lunch. Later on there were races, a Tug of War, a pram race and, in the evening, a Barn Dance and Hog Roast in the War Memorial Hall.

"Thruxton did very well to bring the village together for this event, which was well supported despite the threatening weather. Charles Milner-Williams, Kate Phillipson, Simon Hopkins and Bob Hodges masterminded the event, together with the Village Association, and the Wyvern Dance Band provided quality music throughout the day".
