St Mary Bourne celebrated the Jubilee in style, with a programme of events covering three days. On Sunday June 3rd there was a Gymkhana, followed by a Family Service at St Peter's Church. In the afternoon there were six gardens opened to visitors, and the Jubilee Queen was crowned in the village hall at 4.30pm by Sir George.
Afterwards, John Dixon read out the results of a Limerick competition, and afternoon teas were served against a background of a display of children's paintings and old photos.
The plans for June 4th included a beer race, followed by a Grand Cavalcade leaving the school for the recreation ground. On June 5th, there was to be a Street Party at the George Inn, with entertainment provided for the children.
