The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance celebrated its 5th birthday with a Summer Fair at Popham Airfield.

"Many congratulations to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance for organising this event - the first event they have organised on such a scale. There was a wide variety of attractions, including the Tigers Children's Motorcycle Team, hot air balloons, vintage vehicles and of course the helicopters themselves".

Also at the Fair were the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance, which made a visit, vintage ambulances, and the police motorcycle safety team. As it became clear that the weather on the Saturday was fine, the cars poured in from far and wide.

"I am sure they raised a useful sum of money for the Air Ambulance, and speaking to John Gamblin he told me that his most recent flight had been to take a seriously injured motorcyclist from near Ringwood to Southampon Hospital. It is good news that they now have a helipad on the hospital site, making transfer that much easier".
