Sir George opened a new room at Shipton Bellinger Primary School, to celebrate the school's centenary.
Sir George and Colonel Swift both spoke to the children at the school before the ceremony, explaining how schools had changed since they were both at school, and reminding children of the value of education.
"After we cut the ribbon, Colonel Swift and I enjoyed looking at the exhibition, which showed how the school had changed over the last hundred years. We then went round the classrooms, and the school is obviously in very good shape. The last Ofsted was good and the school copes well with a fairly high turnover of children, half of whom have parents in the armed forces and who therefore move fairly regularly."
With Sir George in the picture are Colonel Swift, Chair of Governors Mrs MacMillan and Head Stephen Bennett.
