Saturday July 21 marked the anniversary of the first Park Run at Charlton Lakes "Jon Simmonds the Event Director tells me that they regularly get over a 100 runners on a Saturday for the run, and there were about 130 for the anniversary run last week. This is a free, timed 5km run or walk for anyone who wants to get involved, and this is one of 140 Parkruns around the world." Paul Sinton-Hewitt, the founder of Parkrun globally came along to help launch the event with Sir George, and entrants were invited to wear fancy dress. "This was a great community event, and is helping to keep Andover fit. I commend the volunteers who run the scheme in Andover, and I know that they would be interested to welcome any new runners."
