This year's Ride and Stride, raising funds to help Christian Churches of all denominations, took place on September 8th. The roads and lanes of Hampshire were filled with cyclists, seeing how many churches they could visit during the day to help preserve, maintain and repair the fabric of local churches and their contents, together with surrounding churchyards.

"Last year, Ride and Stride donations helped raise £37,000 in grants and £14,000 in interest free loans, and all credit to Lady Appleyard for masterminding the event".

Sir George and Lady Young rendezvoused at St Peter's in the Wood in Appleshaw, where they met about 40 others who were taking part in the event, some on foot, some on bicycle and some on horseback.

"We were blessed with good weather on the day, and those who went round the Benefice which includes Tangley, benefited from the generous 'cafe' next to the church, which has become a famous watering hole for those taking part".
