Sir George attended a Branch Breakfast meeting at the Quality Hotel, Andover and spoke to twenty members.
Issues covered included the regulatory burden on employers of the Working Families Tax Credit; the price of petrol; the threat to retailers from unfair competition from some Charity Shops; changes to the Uniform Business Rate; and the future of Andover as a retail centre.
“It was a very helpful and constructive meeting. I was struck by the amount of time they all had to spend filling in forms – which keeps them away from developing their businesses, selling, and creating new jobs”.
