Frank Walker organised a Croquet Tournament in Ecchinswell, to help raise funds for St Lawrence's Church. "Many congratulations to Frank for starting this tournament - The Ecchinswell International Amateur Day Open - which I hope will go from strength to strength, year on year. 10 couples entered, and the winners were Alistair Stewart and Bill Dent to whom I had pleasure in awarding the trophy. This was a redundant cup from the church - see below - but the winners have to leave it in the safe keeping of a Church Warden."

The St Lawrence Cup is the Elizabethan (1570) chalice from the old Sydmonton Church. About 8 in high it is very valuable. The winners' names will be inscribed on a plinth and the trophy held at a secure venue.
