Carers were invited to the Launch of a new Carers Clinic specifically for carers of a person with Learning Difficulties which took place on the 25th September 2012, this is a joint venture between The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Hampshire and Andover Mencap.
The Deputy Mayor Councillor Janet Whitely was there to officially open the event along with Kerry Hearsey Chief Executive of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Hampshire and Simon Tyler the Chief Executive of Andover Mencap.
Kerry Hearsey welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming. Kerry said she is delighted to be involved with this joint venture with Mencap and thanked Simon Tyler.
The Deputy Mayor Councillor Janet Whitely is here today representing The Mayor Dorothy Baverstock who sends her best wishes to all. The Deputy Mayor Councillor Janet Whitely said that it was a pleasure to be invited to this event , she has known Kerry and her enthusiastic work that she does with Carers for over 20 years and would like to congratulate Kerry in what she does. The Deputy Mayor Councillor Janet Whitely also thanked Simon Tyler for supporting The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Hampshire by allowing them the use of the venue. It is important that we all spread the word that this new building is open and friends and family are welcome to attend the facilities and the new Carers Clinic.
Simon Tyler Chief Executive of Andover Mencap explained that this is a joint venture with The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Hampshire and it was lovely to see Carers and all involved at the launch today. The Carers Clinic will be held at Andover Mencap Wellington Centre once a month and is there to support the Carers of a person with Learning Difficulties in the difficult job that they do.
Clinics will be held from 10am to 2pm on the following dates Tuesday 9th October, 13th November and 11th December 2012. You can make an appointment by calling The Wellington Centre Reception on 01264 321840 and requesting either a one to one private appointment which will be for 40 minutes, alternatively you can drop in between 1 and 2pm for any information you might need.
Local MP Sir George Young attended the clinic and spent time chatting to the carers attending. Sir George is a keen supporter of the trust and keeps up to date on all carers issues.
