Sir George visited the Royal Mail stand, and looked at the Olympic stamps which Royal Mail produced to celebrate the successful holding of the Olympics in London. Asked to choose his favourite, Sir George chose the one with the cyclists.
Sir George was also told of Royal Mail's plans to help those on low incomes over the Christmas period, by making available stamps at below the normal rate. The stand also promoted Royal Mail's support for Prostate Cancer UK, the charity they have chosen to support and raised £13500 in donations.
Royal Mail also gave delegates posting pegs, so leaflets could safely be put through letter boxes without the canvasser being bitten by dogs. "There are over 3000 dog attacks on postal workers every year, and these pegs help keep people safe. My wife was once bitten by a ferret the other side of a letter box in Artists Way in Andover, and we will be using pegs in future!"
