Sir George was enticed into a new betting shop in Bridge Street, by the offer to place a £200 bet, the proceeds of which would go to a charity of his choice. "Ladbrokes moved from their premises in Bridge Street a few years ago, but have now moved back and have opened a second branch in the town." Sir George was met by Becky Harvey from Ladbrokes, together with a new manager Andrea Morton. He was shown behind the counter, and learnt how the computerised system works.
Sir George didn't disclose what horses he had put the money on, but he was hoping for a winner as the charity that will benefit from his bet is the St Mary's Church Roof Appeal.
