Sir George went to the first performance of Beauty and the Beast, put on by the Burdock Valley Players at the Village Hall in Upper Clatford. "This was a very professional production, with some first class acting and singing, and some very good effects. There was a very large cast, who worked well as a team. The Clatfords are very fortunate in having two high quality amateur dramatic companies, The Burdock Valley Players and The Clatford Amateur Dramatic Society."
"The whole show lasted two and a half hours, but the time passed quickly and there was never a dull moment. Richard Moffitt and Karen Lindley were marvellous as Camembert and Pussilla, with some very strong performances by the stars and Jon Slingsby was a great pantomime dame, in the best of dramatic traditions."
The Players next production is in June next year, when they will be performing Bill Macllwraith's The Anniversary.
