Representatives from South West Trains, Network Rail, Hampshire County Council and Test Valley Borough Council were at Andover Station on Friday, when Sir George unveiled a plaque to mark the completion of the improvements at Andover Station.

The improvements include refurbished waiting room and station WCs, a new waiting room on platform 2, improvements to the car park and forecourt area, providing a more welcoming and easily accessible station, a new retail unit on platform 2 and a new secure cycle compound. "As a regular user of Andover Station, I welcome these improvements, and the investment of £700,000 that has funded them. For many people, the first impression they get of Andover is when they get off at the station, and it has been looking a bit tired since the last refurbishment some 20 years ago. The staff at the station are fantastic, which is why they won Station of the Year Award a few years ago, and this improved environment will help them provide a yet higher quality of service." With Sir George at the plaque was Jake Kelly, Customer Service Director for the South West Trains/Network Rail Alliance.
