After 24 years in St Mary Bourne, the Reverend Canon Martin Coppen and his wife Christine attended a farewell party at St Mary Bourne Village Centre.

Two churchwardens, Rob Sutcliffe and Eve Lind-Smith presented him with a painting of St Peter’s Church by local artist Richard Plincke, together with a photograph album with photographs of the large numbers of his congregation, and a plant for his garden in his new home in Andover.

“The village centre was packed to say farewell to Martin and Christine. The churches in St Mary Bourne, Hurstbourne Priors, Longparish and Woodcott have been enormously fortunate to have Martin for so long, and there was genuine affection coupled with sadness at his departure at this farewell party”
