I know that times are hard for many families and businesses across the country at the moment. That is why I am proud this Government is doing everything it can to ease the cost of living for families who work hard and want to get on in life, including taking action on fuel prices.
In December last year, the Chancellor scrapped the 3 pence fuel duty increase that the last Government planned to come into force this January. This will ensure fuel remains 10 pence per litre cheaper than under the previous Labour Government’s plans, and from this April, fuel will be 13p per litre cheaper.
The action we have taken means fuel duty will have been frozen for nearly two-and-a-half years by September this year.
With regards to Early Day Motion 1097; I am afraid that, as a member of the Government, I am precluded from signing EDMs.
