Project Workshops at Quarley held an Open Studios Weekend, to promote the work of the artists based at the workshop.

"A wide range of artists and craftsmen, who are based in Quarley, opened their studios over the weekend so people could see the high quality of their work, and also watch glassblowing demonstrations and meet the talented artists."

Sir George looked in at the studio of local sculptor Vivi Mallock, who is working on a project to erect a statue of Samuel Franklin Cody, the aviation pioneer, for the Farnborough Air Sciences Trust. The first flight in an aeroplane in the UK was made by Samuel Franklin Cody at Farnborough on October 16th 1908, and he was also the first aviator in the UK to carry a passenger. It is hoped to unveil the statue on the centenary of Cody's death, August 7th 2013, at Farnborough
